New homes for the community in Much Wenlock
Lovell Strategic Land is preparing a planning application for approximately 150 homes, including access, public open space, landscaping, affordable housing, and associated infrastructure.
In rural counties like Shropshire, household growth has outpaced the national average and with its housing need figure having nearly doubled, the demand for new homes has intensified leaving families and younger residents increasingly unable to stay in the community where they live and work.
In Shropshire, there are close to 2,030 homes needed each year to meet demand, with more than 6,300 households on the housing register and high demand for smaller homes, signalling a real shortage of affordable options.
Without new homes in places like Much Wenlock, more families will be forced to leave their community.

Our Plans
Lovell Strategic Land is bringing forward proposals for approximately 150 new homes on land south of Bourton Road. Much Wenlock. The Site represents a natural and logical extension to the existing town.
The development would be accessed by vehicle from Bourton Road and be within easy walking distance of all local facilities, including shops, services, schools, and community buildings. The Site is also well connected to existing walking routes and public transport, and Dark Lane will be improved to enhance pedestrian access to the town. Infrastructure requirements are currently being discussed with the council.
Much Wenlock is also recognised as a Key Centre that is considered a sustainable location for development with national planning policy supporting homes in well-connected rural communities that help meet local needs.
The proposals are at an early stage and Lovell Strategic Land wants to engage with residents and all key stakeholders to deliver a development that is shaped by the local community.

The Site
The Site lies to the west of Much Wenlock Cemetery and north of Oakfield Park, adjoining the existing settlement edge of Much Wenlock. It comprises agricultural fields and mature boundaries, offering a natural integration into the town. The proposal respects the local landscape and seeks to enhance public access through well-designed footpaths and green edges.
